Ville Platte Funeral services for Mr. Jack Aucoin, 69, will be held Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Fr. Joshua Guillory will officiate the services.
Mr. Aucoin, a resident of Ville Platte, died Monday, January 12, 2009 in St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas. An avid gardener and outdoorsman, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired in 1989 as Assistant Chief of Police for the Ville Platte Police Department after 25 years of service.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his wife, Gloria Fontenot Aucoin of Ville Platte; one son, Mark Aucoin and wife, Darlene of Port Barre; one daughter, Melanie Fusilier and husband, Troy of Port Barre; one brother, Sam Aucoin of Ville Platte; three sisters, Dean Abbott of South Carolina, Diana Vidrine of Point Blue, and Wanda Soileau of Pine Prairie; and four grandchildren, Kyle Aucoin, Emily Aucoin, Malory Aucoin, and Gabby Fusilier.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sabby and Agnes Aucoin and one brother, Jerry Aucoin.
Family request that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
