Ville Platte It is with great sadness that the family of J. Barney Deshotel, Sr., 70 announces his passing on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Ville Platte Medical Center in Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Vidrine. Rite of Committal will follow in the Platin Cemetery in Ville Platte with Fr. Richard Brousssard Celebrant.

Barney will be remembered for his work as Evangeline Parish Building Inspector. A loving father, brother, and grandfather, Barney will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Ben Deshotel and Timothy Scott Deshotel of Vidrine; one daughter, Kimberly Deshotel Hudson of Randolph Air Force Base in Universal City, Tx.; two brothers, J.L. Deshotel of Houston, Tx., and Wade Deshotel of Ville Platte; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Vernice Foret Deshotel.

The family request that visiting hours be observed Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 7:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
