Holly Ann Fontenot, a beloved educator and cherished mother, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in Ville Platte, Louisiana at the age of 45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM followed by burial in the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery in Whiteville with Father Alex Lancon as Celebrant.
Holly Ann Fontenot was born on Wednesday, July 25, 1979, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Holly had a spark that could light up any room she entered. She consistently spread joy and kindness wherever she went. Her humility and faithfulness were hallmarks of her personality, and she always sought the positive side of every situation, never voicing complaints about her circumstances.
Holly touched the lives of many through her dedication both in and out of the classroom. Holly retired from teaching at Ville Platte Lower, where she dedicated many years to nurturing and educating young minds. Beyond her formal career, she opened her home to babysitting, creating a nurturing environment that children and their families came to adore. Her commitment to the well-being and happiness of children was evident in every aspect of her life.
As a devoted mother and grandmother, Holly was her children's number one fan, attending every sporting event and supporting their endeavors with unmatched enthusiasm. She embraced her role as a super 4-H mom, demonstrating her deep commitment to fostering growth and learning in her children. Holly’s selflessness, kindness, and patient demeanor made her not only the glue of her family but also a shining light in their lives. Her family knew her simply as "the best mom and Lolli ever."
Holly will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who loved her including her husband of 27 years and high school sweetheart. Ched Fontenot; four children, Garrick Fontenot (Sarah), Madelie Fontenot, Elliot Fontenot, and Abby Fontenot; and granddaughter, Collins. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, Ricky and Phyllis Stagg; sisters, Robbin Soileau (Bryan), Ashley Patin (Nick), and Kristin Fontenot (Kyle); brothers in law, Kyle Fontenot (Karen) and Kane Fontenot (Greta); sisters in law, Shelly Lafleur (Shane) and Tina Stagg (Matt); 23 nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
Holly is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elmina and Ellis Deshotels; paternal grandparents, Norris and Dessie Stagg; father in law, Jeanard Fontenot; and mother in law, Bonnie Fontenot.
Holly’s life will be honored with a celebration of life held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and again on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 8:00 AM until time of service.
