Burial will follow in the Belaire Cove Cemetery with Father Alex Lancon officiating services. Heath passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 in Ville Platte at the age of 50.
Heath Anthony Fontenot was born on Wednesday, April 11, 1973 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Benny Phil Fontenot and Peggy Marie Fontenot. He was a loving and giving person who would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the life of the party & the heart of his family. He was faithfully Catholic & always defended his faith. Heath was a “Jack of all trades” and if there was something he couldn’t do, he learned how to do it including mechanic work. Heath was a hard worker having worked as an elementary school teacher and a Veterinarian Practice Manager. He was a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word and enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, and hiking in both the Rocky Mountains and the Smokey Mountains. Heath’s favorite outside activity was that of running. One of his greatest accomplishments was participating in the 100 mile 2017 Ultra Marathon, “Loup GaRou Race” in Chicot State Park. When not participating in the race, he enjoyed volunteering at the “Sloth Café” Aid Station to help the runners. Through hard work and determination, Heath was very successful in all things he attempted. Providing for and spending time with his family is what brought Heath the most joy. He took pride in passing on to his children the values and knowledge they would need to be successful in life. He loved & lived life to its fullest. He is loved & will be missed…LIKE CRAZY. This humble, kind-hearted man was loved by many and his memory will continue to live on in their hearts forever.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Christina Dale Fontenot; mother, Peggy Marie Fontenot; five children, Jacques Fontenot, Ariele F. Aymond and husband, Tyler, Gabriel Fontenot and wife, Brooke, Noah Fontenot, and Analise Fontenot; two grandchildren; Ava Aymond and Jean’ Paul Aymond; brother, Troy Deville; sister, Lolita Vidrine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Heath is preceded in death by his father, Benny Phil “Te Gam” Fontenot; son, Jean’ Pierre Fontenot; and grandparents, Willard and Angeline Fontenot and Lindsey Chris and Gussy Fontenot.
