It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Harold Lee Foret, age 84, announces his passing on Sunday, January, 17, 2016 in Lafayette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Burial will follow at Evangeline Memorial Park with Father Richard Vidrine, Harold's cousin, as celebrant.
Harold served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He retired with the Louisiana Department of Highways and is probably remembered most as a bookkeeper for many local businesses. Harold enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and playing poker.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Harold will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Moreau Foret of Ville Platte, sons, Randall Foret and wife Robin of Houston, Texas, Todd Foret and wife Susan of Lafayette, Patrick Foret and wife Rae Ann of Metairie and daughters, Patricia Foret Nezat of Opelousas and Jessica Foret Wax and husband Todd of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Harold is also survived by sister, Joycelyn Foret Lee of Opelousas and sisters-in-law, Mercedes Soileau Foret and Faye F. Foret of Ville Platte. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his eight grandchildren: Laura Nezat, Matthew Nezat, Jacob Sellers, Rachel Foret, Ryan Foret, Grant Foret, Luke Foret and Sarah Wax.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orise and Adile Pitre Foret and his brothers, Joseph Huey Foret and James Byron Foret.
At the request of the Foret family, a visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will reopen on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 9:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in Mr. Foret's honor Friday evening at 5:45.
