Grady Andrus Fontenot, a devoted son, father, and skilled painter, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, in Ville Platte, LA. Born on October 5, 1940, in Mamou, LA, Grady's life was one filled with love, dedication, and passion for his family, his craft, and the great outdoors.
Grady's humble beginnings were rooted in Mamou, where he spent his formative years embracing the values of hard work and perseverance. His ingenuity and determination guided him towards a career in the construction industry, specializing in painting interiors of residential homes. With every stroke of his brush, he transformed houses into homes, leaving a lasting imprint on the lives of those he served.
Outside of his profession, Grady had a deep love for hunting and fishing. Whether casting a line on secluded lakes or venturing deep into the woods in pursuit of game, these moments of solitude brought him immense joy and peace. Grady's passion for the outdoors was only matched by his unwavering devotion to his family.
He leaves behind a legacy carried on by two devoted sons: Brady Fontenot and his wife Lisa Chapman-Fontenot of Ville Platte and Scott Fontenot and his wife Tina Fontenot of Ville Platte. Grady's profound impact extended to his adored grandchildren, Heather and her husband Dwayne Ledoux, Jade and his wife Allison, Tiffany, and her husband Vincent Schexnayder, as well as Joshua and his wife Skye. He was also a cherished presence in the lives of his great-grandchildren Alyssa, Caleb, Peyton, Paisley, Carter, Allie, Ava, Elyse. Grady's spirit will continue to be felt by his great-great-grandchildren Ryker and Hazel. Grady is also survived by his sister Nina Fontenot and half-brother Bennett Fontenot.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Fontenot, his parents, Clement Fontenot, and Bernice Saucier Fontenot. Grady's sisters, Grace Fontenot Soileau, Ethel Young Fontenot, Patsy Ledoux Fontenot, Charlene Matte Fontenot, and Fernella Ann Fontenot also preceded him in death.
