He worked there until his retirement. Joe is an Army veteran and served in Korea during peace time. He loved to read, especially stories of the old west. He was active in his Church in Ville Platte for many years serving as a substitute usher, was on the adoration ministry and was part of the monthly rosary with several of his friends. Joe loved to be with his friends and family and always loved our annual family reunion trips to Chicot State Park, Ville Platte, La. Joe loved to tell stories about our family outings at “The Park”. He never met a stranger and always made people laugh. Joe moved back to his hometown of Ville Platte, La in 2012, after having been in the Houston area for many years.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, La. The entire staff went above and beyond the call taking care of Joseph. Special thanks to the nursing staff, especially Ms. Sandra Kibodeaux. From the minute he was admitted to the end of his life, they were there to render exceptional patient care. Thanks also go out to the wonderful nursing staff of Lamm Home Health Hospice. They met every need that Joe had and showed such a dedication and devotion to his care. They were more than we could have ever asked for. In addition to all those that helped Joe, a special thanks goes to Ms. Brandy Joubert. Joe looked upon Brandy as his grand daughter and she upon him as her adopted Grand father. We don’t know what we would have done without her. She brought such joy into his life. And whenever we needed her, never did I hear the word no. We are eternally grateful to Father Joshua Guillory, Father Jason Vidrine, Father Tom Voorhies, and Father Blake Dubroc who played a very special role in Joe’s spiritual life and his reversion to his faith,
