Pine Prairie Gertie McDaniel Ardoin passed away at 7:11 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2009. She was 81 years old on July 4, 2009.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters and their spouses; Renetta and Wayne McMillan and Freda and Bill Godron of Pine Prairie, Sheila and Donald Chase of Moss Bluff; two sons and their spouses; Ricky C. and Gerry Ardoin of Bayou Chicot and Keith and Giselle Ardoin of Pine Prairie and one sister, Joyce Guillory of Vidrine. She was lovingly called Momee by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Ardoin, her parents, Francis and Rita McDaniel, Sr., four sisters, Hazel Guillory, Nazel Fontenot, Lou Guillory and Pricilla Comeaux and one brother, Francis McDaniel, Jr.
Mrs. Ardoin was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie for 50 years where she was a member of Catholic Daughters, catechism instructor and was the 2001 recipient of the Martin Luther King award from the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette.
She served her community by being a member of the original Prairie Manor Nursing Home Board, a member of the original Pine Prairie Garden Club; was instrumental in establishing the Boggy Bayou Festival. She was also selected as Parade Marshall of the Pine Prairie Christmas Parade and assisted longtime family friend Fr. Leslie Prescott in planning numerous trips all over the world.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 from 11 am until 9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm rosary and again on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 8 am until time of services at 11 am in St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. Rite of Committal will be held in St. Peters Mausoleum in Pine Prairie. Pallbearers will be her eight grandsons, Brett and Adam Chase, Dustin Perron, Nicholas McMillan, Chad and Daniel Ardoin and Clint and Andy Ardoin.
