VILLE PLATTE It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Jules Zagar, 76, announces his passing on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Opelousas General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Peters Catholic Church of Pine Prairie. Rite of Committal will take place in the Vandenburg Cemetery of Bayou Chicot Fr. Richard Broussard will officiate the services.
George was a kind and loving man whose memory will be cherished by his step daughter Georgie Johnson, his sisterinlaw, Betty Lou Zagar and his nieces and a nephew, Lori Fontenot and her husband Murry of Westlake, Shelia Mounier and her husband Patrick of Arizona, Lisa Deshotel and husband Ricky of Bayou Chicot, Diane Vidrine and Kenneth Morgan. He also leaves behind great nieces and a great nephew: Amy Soileau, Samantha Soileau, Lucas Soileau, Brittany Deshotel and Natalie Mounier, greatgreat nieces and greatgreat nephews: Terry Aucoin, Bailey Aucoin, Alyssa Soileau, Brittany Soileau, Cain Soileau, Larry Poston, Ricky Poston and Hunter Robertson. He will be sadly missed by his dear friends: Kris and Micki Johnson and their children.
George served his country with great pride and honor as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. His deep devotion to our country carried on for the rest of his days.
He will now reunite in Heaven with his parents: George and Melize Zagar they await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Georges family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 9:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 and will continue until 10:00 PM that evening. The parlor will reopen Friday morning at 8:00 AM and remain so until the time of the service. A Rosary will be recited in his honor at 6:30 PM Thursday evening.
