Gary Landreneau

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, for Gary Otis Landreneau, 86, who passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Ville Platte.

Father Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Entombment will take place at Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.

Gary O. Landreneau was born on November 19, 1934, in Ville Platte, LA to Joseph Otis Landreneau and Clamie Fusilier Landreneau.  Gary was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as a lector and eucharistic minister.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SLI in 1956.  He worked for many years with the Department of Family Services as a Supervisor of Child Protection.  Gary was very active in his community having served as Vice President of the Cotton Festival. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and a co-director of the Contradanse.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.  He loved watching LSU Football and westerns.  His family and friends will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lynn Fletcher Landreneau; three sons, David Landreneau and wife, Regina of Cypress, TX, Joel Landreneau of Little Rock, AR and Francis Landreneau and wife, Rosa of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Amy Landreneau King and husband, Kevin of Cypress, TX, Mark Landreneau and wife, Karen of Spring, TX, Aaron Landreneau and wife, Katie of Ruston, LA, Luke Landreneau of El Dorado, AR and Jeffrey Landreneau of Houston, TX; three great grandchildren, Cody and Ryan King and Riley Landreneau; sister, Ellen Rita Landreneau of Lafayette; and three brothers, Carol N. Landreneau of Ville Platte, Hugh Landreneau of Scott and Eric Phillip Landreneau of Ville Platte.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Otis Landreneau and Clamie Fusilier Landreneau.

At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, July 12, 2021, beginning at 4:00 PM and until 8:00 PM.  A rosary will be prayed in his honor on Monday evening at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
