John, as everyone knew him, had a great passion for two times during the year, Christmas Day and his birthday, July 19th. On these two days he would anxiously wait to get a new radio each time. On Christmas Eve each year, John could not wait for Santa Claus to pass. He had many dogs over the years each one named Poochie, his favorite color was red, and watching LSU football was a great pastime. Although he had many favorites nothing would come close to his love for his big brother and big sister, Burke and Kathleen. John was a loving brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him, he will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Burke Eastin and wife, JoAnn of Ville Platte; sister, Kathleen Soileau of Ville Platte; sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert JoAnn Eastin of Ville Platte; seven nieces and nephews, Dennis Eastin of Houston, Laine Latour of Ville Platte, Pat Soileau of Dallas, Paula Soileau of Austin, Shawn Manuel of Ville Platte, Robert Eastin, Jr. of Ville Platte, and Rachael Eastin-Hughes of Lafayette; and eighteen great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. and Helen Eastin; brother, Robert Eastin, Sr.; brother-in-law, Willis H. Soileau, and a nephew, William Billy Burke Eastin.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday evening.
