VILLE PLATTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Floyd M. Soileau at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte.  Father Mitch Guidry will celebrate the Mass.  Burial will take place at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Floyd M. Soileau, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 23, 1931, in Ville Platte to Lester and Ethel Reed Soileau. Floyd was a veteran, fighting for our country’s freedom in the United States Air Force. He loved hunting and fishing and took pride in his garden. He also enjoyed weekly suppers. Most of all, he loved his family and was a committed father and grandfather. Floyd will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Floyd is survived by his daughter, Pamela S. Fontenot and husband, Patrick, of Ville Platte; his companion, Betty Soileau of Ville Platte; his brother, Lester Earl Soileau, Jr. and wife, Janella, of Ville Platte; his sister, Virginia “Ginger” Gill and husband, Tom, of Ville Platte; 5 grandchildren: Penny Lane and husband, Jeff, of Metairie, Mindy Aucoin of Ville Platte, Kayla LeBouef and husband, Andy, of Metairie, Johnathan Des Ormeaux and wife, Jade, of Mamou, Adam P. Fontenot and his companion, Morgan Kilgore, of Baton Rouge; 8 great grandchildren: Madison Lalonde, Cydney Lalonde, Lennon Lane, Jett Lane, Harlie Des Ormeaux, River Solley, Jack Milton Des Ormeaux, and Lila Fontenot.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ethel Reed Soileau; his wife, Grace Morein Soileau; and his brother, Bobby Glyn Soileau.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 9:00 AM until time of service.
