Funeral services for Mr. Fermin Joesph Doucet, 77, will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Grand Prairie on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2:00 pm with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Jude Halphen will officiate the funeral mass. Altar servers will be John Luke and Jace.

Mr. Doucet, a resident of Grand Prairie, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Landry Nursing and Rehabilitation in Church Point. He was a jack of all trades: plumbing, draftsman, roofer, and offshore worker. He could do it all! He finally retired from Chicot State Park, where he was a maintenance supervisor. He always loved to fish, especially with Dude. He also greatly enjoyed all children.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Eva Doucet of Grand Prairie; one son, Stanley Doucet and wife, Sandy, of Clinton, MS; two sisters, Jackie Doucet of Hessmer and Esther Smith and husband, Elter of Long Pine; three grandchildren, Ashley Sanders and Stephen of Sterlington, Samuel Doucet of Clinton, MS, and Emma Doucet of Clinton, MS; and three great grandchildren, John Luke, Jace, and Elijah Sanders.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Kay Doucet; his parents, Murphy and Hattie Doucet; his sister, Judy Charrier; and his brother, Rod Doucet.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Doucet, Samuel Doucet, Stephen Sanders, Charles Ortego, Benjamin Dupre and Colin Fontenot.

Visiting hours will be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume Friday, November 8, 2024, from 8:00 am until the time of service.
