Ville Platte It is with great sadness that the family of Evia Nicks announces her passing at Mercy Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the age of 101. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville.
Evia who was affectionately known as Grammie will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her, especially her son, Charles Nicks and his wife, Jean of Ville Platte her daughter, Jane Riebel of Lafayette twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
She now rests in Heaven with her husband, J.M. Nicks parents, Adonis and Trezela Domingue her three sons, Jimmie Joe, Clyde, and Johnnie Nicks and a daughter, Nelda Mays.
Pallbearers for Evia will be John and Logan Bertrand, Dwayne and Eric Riebel, Mitch and Bill Nicks.
At the request of the family visitation will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, January 28, 2011 beginning at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
