VILLE PLATTE - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ella Mae Dupre Fontenot, 90, announces her passing on Saturday, May 02, 2015 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her memory on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Father Richard Broussard as celebrant.
Ella Mae proudly served as a volunteer in New Orleans during World War II where she assisted with the building of Higgins Boats. She was a beautician by trade for 40 years and owned Ella Mae's Beauty Den. Her greatest accomplishment however was that of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Ella Mae leaves behind two sons Charles "Benny" Fontenot and wife Regina of Ville Platte and George "Kip" Fontenot and wife Denise of Lafayette, two daughters Susan Richard and husband Lee of Reddell and Doleris Landreneau and husband Bennett of Alexandria, two brothers Mayance Dupre and wife Mercedese of Krotz Springs and Jimmy Dupre and wife Marie of Irwenville, and four sisters Sylvia Soileau and husband Joe of Ville Platte, Emily Fontenot of Ville Platte, Bernice Lafleur of Grand Prairie and Joy Ortego and husband Bradley of Denham Springs. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She now joins in Heaven her dear husband Abbie Fontenot, her parents Lamar and Adosia Deshotel Dupre, her brother Rodney Dupre, and her sisters Etta Manuel and Theresa Hazelton.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited in her honor Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Jacques and Cody Fontenot, Chad and Layne Landreneau, and Chris and Kyle Richard.
