Elizabeth Jane Ortego Guillory

Elizabeth "Libby" Jane Ortego Guillory, a cherished resident of Ville Platte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 74. Born on March 27, 1950, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.

Libby dedicated herself to teaching special education for over 33 years, leaving an indelible impact on the lives of countless students. Her passion extended beyond the classroom, as she found joy in camping trips to Chicot State Park, Labor Day Family Reunions, gardening, and embarking on outdoor adventures with her family.

Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of devotion and care. She is survived by her three daughters, Nicole Wenger, and husband, Eric of Bayou Chicot, Rebecca Ardoin and husband, Cody of Ville Platte, Christina Guillory of Baton Rouge: her son, Joseph Guillory, and wife Jennifer of Madisonville; her grandchildren, Alex Fontenot, Madeline Leonards, Samantha Dupre, Connor Veillon, Grace Broussard, James McInnis, Amelia Berthelot, Kathryn McInnis, Cade Guillory, Cullen Guillory and Isabelle Ardoin; her great-grandchildren, Dylynn Leonards, Noah Leonards, Railynn Leonards, Paxton Leonards, Camille Veillon, Dorothy Jane Berthelot, Anna Broussard, Ellis Dupre, and Avery Boswell. Also left to cherish her memories are her brothers, Charles Ortego and Dwain Ortego; and her sisters, Karen Vidrine and Genie Kruszynsky.

Libby is preceded in death by her parents, Van and Betty Ortego of Ville Platte; and her brothers, Benny Ortego and Craig Ortego.

At the request of the family, a Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 17. 2024, at 8:00 AM until the time of service.
