VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 for Dr. Edison Ford Storey, Sr., 94, who passed away on March 15, 2019 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Opelousas, La.
Reverend Keven West, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte, will conduct the funeral service.
Burial will take place at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Centerville, MS.
Doc Ford was born in Eros, LA. He served his country courageously in the US Army 2032nd in WWII. He participated in "Operation Dragoon"; the landing and liberation of Marseille, France and 1100-mile march to Berlin, Germany. He received the Purple Heart for his wounds he sustained in the service of his country and for freedom of others.
He graduated at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City and moved to Ville Platte and opened his Chiropractic clinic and served the Ville Platte community for many years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte where he also taught Sunday School.
Dr. Storey is survived by his daughter, Gloria Storey Connolly; step-son, Charles James Rogers and wife Gloria; six grandchildren, Lisa Marie Storey, Amy Rogers Conque, Emily Attenlofer, Alison Lauren Rogers Lucas Smith and Michael Pumphrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dr. Katherine Geter Storey; son, Edison Ford Storey, Jr. and grandson, Charles James Rogers, III
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of service.
