VILLE PLATTE- Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Ray Soileau, 77, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Monday, January 22, 2018, who passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.

Father Glodd, Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrating the mass and conducting the funeral services.

Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Born October 14, 1940 to Aubrey and Ruby Soileau, he retired as a Field Representative for GMAC for having worked there for 21 years. A life-long resident of Ville Platte he graduated from Ville Platte High School and attended TH Harris; where he studied business. Ray proudly served his country and state in the Louisiana National Guard for 8 years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and woodworking. Ray also had a passion for photography. He enjoyed taking pictures of his 6 grandchildren whom were his pride and joy. He never missed a sporting event or activity that involved his grandchildren. He would walk around proudly with a camera capturing photographs and memories. His family will miss him dearly.

His memories will live on through his family. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon Duos Soileau; daughter, Nicole Soileau Fontenot and husband Jody of Ville Platte; son, Warren Craig Soileau, Sr. of St. Landry; 6 grandchildren, Warren Craig Soileau, Jr., Christopher Adam Soileau, Gabriel Ray Soileau, Hannah Nicole Fontenot, Jody Garrett Fontenot, and Landon Michael Fontenot; and sister, Runnie Ann Soileau Hunter and husband John R. Hunter, III of Woodworth.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Ruby Lafleur Soileau.

The family request that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
