Della Leyser

TURKEY CREEK-Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Trinity Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, for Della Thompson Leyser, 86, who passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 in Mamou, LA.

Pastor Eddie Douglas will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Turkey Creek Cemetery.

Della Thompson Leyser a resident of Turkey Creek was born in Ville Platte, LA. on January 25, 1933 to Lindsay Thompson and Elena Ortego Thompson.  Della was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  Her home was always open to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  She enjoyed cooking for her family.  She was very fond of her Shih Tzu dogs named, Doobie and Hunter.  Della loved yardwork, raking leaves, and tending to her garden.  She was a wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Della leaves behind her daughters, Janice Holden and husband Ralph of Pine Prairie, Theresa Fraser and husband John of Doyline, Ellen Campbell and husband Dennis of Tioga, and Benita Page and husband Jack of Bayou Chicot; sons, Frederick Leyser and wife Patsy of Orange, TX and Corbette Leyser of Turkey Creek; 16 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother Woodrow Thompson and wife Linda of Turkey Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen F. Leyser; parents, Lindsay Thompson and Elena Ortego Thompson; daughter, Janette Deville; brother, Calvin Thompson, and two grandsons, Jonathon Fraser and Corbette Leyser.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Trinity Baptist in Turkey Creek, LA on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
