Ville Platte Funeral services for Mr. Clement Smith, 96, will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 12: 30pm in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be held in B.J. Fontenot Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a resident of Ville Platte, died Thursday in Evangeline Extended Care Hospital in Mamou. He was in the U.S. Army having served in the World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Smith of Lafayette and Brenda Smith Clark of Bayou Chicot; one brother, Ilence Smith of Bossier City; one sister, Ellie Chapman; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Essie Tate Smith; a brother, Edwin Smith and a sister, Olivia Dupre.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2008 from 11am until 9pm and on Saturday from 9am until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7pm on Friday.
