Charles Lynn LaHaye

January 26, 1942 — January 17, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Lynn LaHaye, 82, of Ville Platte announces his passing on Friday, January 17, 2025. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church followed by interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Charles was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend whose life was a testament to hard work, passion, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

A proud graduate of McNeese State University, Charles earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, which set the foundation for a fulfilling career as a meat inspector for the State of Louisiana. He was deeply committed to his work, and his passion for agriculture was evident in his farming endeavors. Charles dedicated his life to raising cattle, cultivating rice, and managing crawfish ponds, embodying the spirit and resilience of Louisiana's rich farming heritage.

Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man of many interests and talents. He reveled in the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting and fishing. His days were often spent at livestock shows, where he took pride in showcasing the fruits of his labor. An avid supporter of LSU sports, he passionately shared his love for football and baseball with family and friends. His greatest joy, however, came from watching his grandchildren play sports, where his encouragement and love were always palpable.

Charles was known for his resourcefulness; his ability to fix things and his broad skillset earned him the title of a jack-of-all-trades among his family and friends. Those who knew him remember not only his skills but also his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering support.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy LaHaye; sons, Chuck LaHaye, Chris LaHaye, and David LaHaye; grandchildren, Ethan LaHaye, Eliza LaHaye, J.D. LaHaye, and Luke Allen LaHaye; brother, Kenneth LaHaye; and sister, Sue LaHaye.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Burnel “J.B.” LaHaye and Effie Deshotel LaHaye; daughter, Lisa LaHaye; sisters, Marcia Hebert and Judith LaHaye; brother, Johnny LaHaye.
