PINE PRAIRIE – Funeral services will be held for Cathrina Johnson Manuel who passed away peacefully Sunday, August 16, 2020 at her residence. She was 76 years old. The services will be at the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Father Kenneth Mayne will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Cathrina Johnson Manuel was born on September 24, 1943 in Ville Platte to Dillard Johnson and Aventine Brunet. Cathrina was the oldest of six. She was quiet and soft-spoken with a witty personality. Cathrina was very giving and touched many lives during her career as a teacher’s aide.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and visiting with family and friends.  Cathrina looked forward to spending time with her great friends while enjoying pokeno, bouree’, and couples’ supper club. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie for many years. Cathrina will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those who loved her.

Cathrina is survived by her four sons, Lauteral Manuel and wife, Malena of Ville Platte, Chris Manuel and wife, Melissa of Vidrine, Shawn Manuel and wife, Bridget of Lafayette and Chad Manuel and wife, Kim D. Manuel of Ville Platte; two daughters, Deneen Deville and husband, John of Pine Prairie, and Kim Manuel and wife, Hester of Lafayette; stepdaughter, Kathy Laborde of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren, Justin, Leah, Brandon, Taylor, Tori, Aaron, Dillon, Tre', Abbie, Tanner, Mya, Ava, and Chance Michael; five great grandchildren, Jordyn, Jacob, Hudson, Norah and Bryson; four sisters, Madeline Cancienne of Pineville, Belca Carson and husband, Ray of Pine Prairie, Nelta Brown and husband Dennis of Pine Prairie and Darlene Landreneau and husband, Don of Pine Prairie; and godchild, Nancy Brown.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleve Ray Manuel; her parents Dillard and Aventine Johnson, and sister, Katie Johnson.

The family requests that visitation be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie Thursday, August 20 beginning at 4:00 PM until time of service on Friday.  A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM.

The Manuel family are extremely grateful for Cathrina’s sitters and all who helped care for her throughout her journey.
