VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Burkman John Fontenot, 70, announces his passing on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Mercy Regional Hospital. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Father Mitchell Guidry celebrant.
A loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Burkman leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Wanda Ducote Fontenot of Ville Platte, three sons Darrell Fontenot and wife Angie, John Fontenot and wife Bridget, and Chuncey Fontenot and wife Tiffany all of Ville Platte, one stepson William Turner of Whiteville, three daughters Phyllis Saucier and husband Darrell Glenn, Liz Hollier and husband Mark, and Melissa Soileau all of Ville Platte, and one sister Grace Aucoin of Lone Pine. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Sammy Fontenot, Maggie Fontenot, Faith Fontenot, Matthew Saucier, Brandie Fontenot, Adrian Hollier, Rebecca Hollier, Kaygan Jones, Kalee Fontenot, Karlie Fontenot, Tobi Soileau, and Garrett Nix and his great grandchildren Abigail Nix, Sydney Fontenot, Adalynn Fontenot, and Devin and Ashley Turner.
He now joins in Heaven his parents Amel and Eldena Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 9:00 AM and continuing until time of service on Monday. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 6:30 PM.
