Betty Fontenot Wiggins

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Betty Fontenot Wiggins, 94, of Ville Platte at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 11:30 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.  Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A lifelong resident of Ville Platte, Mrs. Wiggins passed away peacefully at 7:30 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Metairie, LA. She was a retired Medical Transcriptionist and mother of four.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Wiggins of Metairie, LA, her son, Mark Wiggins of Elizabeth, LA and her son, Eric Wiggins of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Maurice Tate, Jr of Round Rock, TX, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice & Elva Deshotel Tate, her husband, Jerome Wiggins, and her daughter, Debbie Wiggins Curole.

At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 8:00 am until time of service.
