VILLE PLATTE It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Bertman Lee Manuel announces his passing on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Landry Extended Care in Opelousas. He was 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Father Joshua Guillory Celebrant.

Bertman was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He loved music and horses. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be forever missed by his two sons, David Neil Manuel of Dallas, TX, and Darwin Francis Manuel of Grand Prairie his daughter, Amanda Hollahan and husband, Chris of Grand Prairie sister, Lizzie Manuel of Baton Rouge and four grandchildren, Bryant P. Vidrine, Kaitlyn M. Vidrine, Wesley Manuel, and Michael Urquidez.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Bernella Smith Manuel parents, Dorceno and Ezola Ardoin Manuel brother, Russell Manuel and sister, Lydie Miller.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, November 28th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, November 29th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Joshua Guillory will recite a Rosary at 12:00 noon Thursday.
