Ville Platte Funeral services for Mr. Belvin B.J. Fontenot, 86, will be held Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2pm in First Baptist Church in Ville Platte. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson, a native and resident of Ville Platte, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 4:20am at his residence. In 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Army, having only served four years. He received many medals and awards including, a Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, an American Theater Campaign Medal, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead, and a Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
Survivors include three sons, David Johnson of Baton Rouge, Gerald Johnson of Reddell, and Jimmy Johnson of Ville Platte; four daughters, Brenda Veillon and husband, Roland of Ville Platte, Celeste Johnson of California, Jessica Cox and husband, Ray of Baton Rouge and Rachel Morgan and husband, Buck of Ville Platte; three brothers, Elvin Johnson of Texas, Lee Johnson of Lake Charles, and Ray Johnson of Ville Platte; one sister, Dorothy Guillory of Lake Charles; twenty grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Enola Johnson; a daughter, Ruth Vizinat; five brothers, Sidney, Wilson, Edward, AV, and Roy Johnson; and a grandson, Lonie Johnson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 3pm until time of services on Friday. A Veterans Service will be held 9am on Friday.
