Ville Platte Funeral services for Mrs. Avie Manuel, 89, will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 1pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery. Fr. Joshua Guillory will officiate the services.

Mrs. Manuel, a resident of Ville Platte, formerly of Mamou, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte.

Ms. Avie is survived by two sons, John Steve Manuel of Mamou and Bobby James Manuel of Ville Platte; one daughter, Shirley Ann M. Fontenot and husband, Terry of Montgomery, TX; two brothers, L.J. Vidrine of Mamou, and Marion Vidrine of New Orleans; three sisters, Mary Vidrine of Pensacola, Fl, Janie Ardoin of New Orleans, and Madeline Soileau of Groves, TX; five grandchildren, Todd Fontenot, Gawain Fontenot, Brandon Manuel, Shelly Manuel, and Amy Henry; three great grandchildren, Joseph and Jonathan Sosa, and Danielle Fontenot.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Emma Vidrine, and many of her biological and adoptive siblings.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 from 3pm until 10pm and on Sunday, September 2, 2007 from 8am until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 5:30pm on Saturday.
