Audrey Verrette

August 20, 1936 — April 5, 2023

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Audrey Ardoin Verrette at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, followed by entombment at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Born August 20, 1936, Audrey was a lifetime resident of Ville Platte. She passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the age of 86.

Audrey was a proper, polished and very kind lady, traits she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was also an exemplary role model for her family and community. As a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Audrey did all she could to ensure the success of her family. She taught them to love the Lord, Jesus Christ, with all their hearts and souls and to put Jesus first. Always steadfast and faithful when praying the Rosary, she was a member of several rosary groups and Come, Lord Jesus.  In her spare time, Audrey enjoyed gardening and making her house a home for those who would visit.  She loved music and having fun with her dear friends. She was a great communicator and a wonderful counselor to her grandchildren and family, always listening and giving advice when needed.

She is survived by five children: Charmaine V. Pollingue and husband, Deacon Bill, of Opelousas, LA; Donna V. Soileau and husband, Deacon Ben, of Ville Platte, LA; Pamela V. Sonnier and husband, Ricky, of Lafayette, LA; Dr. Paul Ray Verrette and fiancé, Kimberly Cramer, of Chalmette, LA; and Rachelle V. Doucet and husband, Nicky, of Covington, LA. Audrey is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Jennie P. Stelly, Jessica Soileau, John Ben Soileau (Brandi), Katie M. Hebert (Jeff), Dustin Manuel (Christine), Scott Sonnier (Ashley), Christina Verrette, Alex D. Seghers (Robert), Jacqueline D. Devillier (Bryan), Madeline Doucet, Mary Renee Doucet, and Emily Doucet, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters: Rebecca Ardoin Buller (Gene) and Sue Ortego Klimski (Ted).

Preceded in death are her husband, Alvin Ray Verrette; parents: fathers, Remi Ardoin and Elaire Ortego, mother, Marice Fusilier Ortego; brothers, Burke Ardoin, Lionel Ardoin, and John Ardoin; sisters, Amy Ardoin Guillory, Wanda Mae Ardoin, and Jane Ardoin Richard; in-laws, Adam and Alida Verrette.
