ST. LANDRY - Albert "Butch" Francis Castete, age 76, of Saint Landry, Louisiana passed away at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born on October 17, 1947, in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he graduated from Lake Charles High School. He met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Lorenz Castete while continuing to live in Lake Charles. Upon retirement, they made their home in Saint Landry, Louisiana. Butch was a graduate of McNeese State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. Theresa's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Pine Prairie, Louisiana at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Interment will follow at St. Therea's Cemetery, in St. Landry.
Butch was a man who would speak his mind and he treasured his family more than anything. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He worked as an iron- worker throughout his lifetime and worked at multiple plants/locations throughout his career.
Butch is survived by his son and daughter in law, Christopher and Kimberly Castete; his grandchildren, Jordan Forbes, Skylar Prejean, and Hailee Castete; his sister-in-law, Deborah Castete; his nieces, Kelly Castete, Pam Straub (Mike), Paula Morris, Katie Rains (Seth) and Ami Brunson; his nephews, Cody Johns and Jason Johns along with several great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Lorenz Castete; his parents, Arthur and Pauline (Fontenot) Castete; his brother, Herman Castete; his nephew, Brody Johns and his niece, Joei Johns.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Pine Prairie, Louisiana from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Morris, Seth Rains, Rob Bergeron, Jordan Forbes, and members from the Knights of Columbus.
