PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on November 23,2019 at Sanctuary of Praise in Mamou, for Adam “A.V.” Voorhies Fruge, 68, who passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 in Pine Prairie, LA.
Burial will take place in Platin Cemetery.
Adam “A.V.” Voorhies Fruge was born in Lake Charles, LA. on January 20, 1951 in Lake Charles, LA to Vorice and Marie Brunet Fruge. A resident of Pine Prairie, A.V. spent most of his working career in law enforcement. He served 4 years as Chief of Police for Mamou Police Department. He also worked for Pine Prairie Police Department and Evangeline Parish Sherriff’s Department; where he retired as patrol supervisor. He was a charismatic individual. He could hold a conversation with anyone. A.V. always had something to talk about. He loved cutting grass. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was hard working and an amazing provider for his family. He leaves his family with many cherished memories.
A.V. leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Polly Fruge; one son, Ritchie Fruge, a daughter, Leslie Dietz and husband Mark, two stepdaughters, Melanie Soileau and husband Brandon, and Olivia Roberie; grandchildren; Emma and Ranger Fruge, Lily, Carson and Amelia Dietz and Ellie Soileau; sisters, Brenda Guillory and Jamaine Amy; and brother, Ray Fruge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vorice and Marie Brunet Fruge and sister, Frances Fontenot.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Sanctuary of Praise in Mamou, LA on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
